Dadra and Nagar Haveli is located in the Western coast of India. It is the watershed region of the holy river Ganges. Silvasa is the capital of the Union Territory (UT). The UT was a Portuguese colony earlier until it was handed over to the Republic of India in 1954. The Union Territory is administered by a Lieutenant Governor. Gujarati is the official language. Dadra and Nagar Haveli is a tourist place which has fertile rich plain in the central region surrounded by hills. Dadra and Nagar Haveli does not have its own transport system but they avail the transport systems from its neighboring states Gujarat and Maharashtra.
